Everything you need to know about Pippa Middleton’s Wedding
The vintage car driving down the pretty country road was a strong start to what would turn out to be a truly beautiful day. It set the tone; classic, refined and timelessly elegant. Deeply private and protected, we mere mortals were only privy to the arrival and departure from St Mark’s Church in Englefield , the rest of the day is a deeply guarded secret, but we saw enough to fall in love.
Let’s hop straight to it…
Everything you need to know about Pippa Middleton’s Wedding Dress
It’s a big day for British Designer Giles Deacon when you get to dress the Bride for the most hotly anticipated wedding of the season, nay, of the year! No sooner had her vintage car appeared when the press began eagerly snapping away, desperate to catch a glimpse at the all important custom-made gown.
And the Bride wore lace…
Oh yes she did. And what beautiful lace. One of the most glorious elements of lace is the detailed edging and how this looks and falls on the skin. Trimming her neck and arms, the look from the front is soft and neat. The lace is also celebrated in the back as the dress features a beautiful heart cut out. It’s just stunning.
The lace covers the whole gown and whilst this has the potential to be overkill and often drag a gown down, Giles Deacon has created a dress with great movement and fluidity. Tulle fills out the back of the dress, adding volume to the bottom, perfectly balanced by her corseted waist.
It’s a dress of real beauty and so perfect for this Bride, with hand embroidered pearls carefully stitched upon the lace. Giles Deacon (long-term boyfriend to Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie) who prides himself on placing the client at the heart of every design has so truly captured Pippa Middleton’s beauty and elegance for her Wedding Day.
Everything you need to know about Pippa Middleton’s Bridal Styling…
The rest of the styling is just perfect too as she opts for a soft up-do, a pretty low bun, to further compliment the exquisite high collar of the dress. Her makeup was very simple, simply there to enhance her natural beauty. Chelsea based Jewellery Designer Robinson Pelham was the accessories designer du jour, as Pippa finished off her Bridal look with a Pelham Maidenhair Fern diamond tiara and earrings. In fact, we spied that she wore these earrings at her sister’s Royal Wedding back in 2011, perhaps these were her ‘Something Old?’ Either way, they have the perfect drop length, with the pearl detail being repeated throughout the gown.
Pippa’s mid length veil, down on arrival, looks just as pretty cascading from her low bun as she leaves the Church, now Mrs Matthews.
We love this dress and have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more high collared lace dresses coming down aisles in the future.
Everything you need to know about Pippa Middleton’s Wedding Guests..
A blend of Family, Friends, Royals and Celebrities streamed into the lovely church.
The Federers were one of the first to arrive, both looking fabulous. We know the happy couple are fans of Tennis, having spotted them at Wimbledon a few times, so it’s nice to see that their support has led to friendship. Roger, so dapper in his stylish three-piece and Mrs F glistened in a matching metallic ensemble.
Her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge, stayed true to her love for Alexander McQueen, just as she had for her own wedding day, by choosing to wear this British Designer for her sister’s special day. Perfect in pink, her dress was evocative of 40s glamour. We love the under bust ruching, slight billowing sleeve with buttons on the cuffs and the lovely peplum pocket detail. Timeless and classic, it’s so pretty and elegant.
Mother-Of-The Bride Carole Middleton wore a fabulous blush ensemble. Her long Catherine Walker buttoned coat is a spot-on choice for MoB.
Jane Matthews, the Mother-Of-The-Groom, was the picture of sophistication in this chic blue look. We love the neckline of that coat and that hat! Divine.
Princess Eugiene wore a lovely navy A-line dress and teamed it with an Anya Hindmarch ‘Crisp-packet’ clutch.
Some guests opted to adds a dash of whimsy to the proceeding by wearing loud tartan trousers. We’re pretty sure there’s an inside joke there…!
One noticeable absence was Meghan Markle. Rumour was that she didn’t want the attention surrounding her and Harry’s relationship to take away any of the attention from the blushing Bride on her big day. However, Meghan did join the festivities in the afternoon and apparently wore a backless maroon number.
The happy couple and guests enjoyed the rest of their day in a custom built glass conservatory style marquee, where they were able to view a Spitfire display. By all accounts it was a fabulous day that was estimated to cost over £1,000,000. Wow!
From everyone at Weddingly, we would like to wish Pippa and James a wonderful life together. xoxo
