We would like to welcome Emily+Nick to Weddingly and thank them for sharing their beautiful wedding day with us. A romantic vision at Stubton Hall in Nottingham. We almost had a complete melt down when we saw, what can only be described as, a cascade of hydrangeas and peonies on the head table. This billowing bough of beauty had us all Pinteresting Hydrangea floristry all afternoon. We love a wedding where there are lots of lovely family contributions to the day, so have a tissue at the ready!
Here is Emily’s story and her top tips. Her vendors are all listed and linked at the bottom of the post. Scroll down to view all the pictures, click to enlarge.

I got married in…
The style of my wedding was…
An elegant modern twist on a classic, traditional wedding.
My colour scheme was…
Pale pink and cream/white
I honeymooned in…
From one Bride/Groom to another…
Get as much of the ‘big stuff’ as you can booked sooner rather than later. The good suppliers and venues are booked so far in advance you need to snap them up early.
Once you have these things secured you can then relax.
I am so pleased that we…
Found my wonderful hairdresser, Alison Jenner. She saved the day!
Alison stepped in at the last minute as I had been let down by two hair and make-up stylists in the lead up to the wedding.
Alison was called 3 days before the wedding and despite already having another bride that day she fitted me into her diary – she was an absolute god send – thank you so much Alison!
Thanks also to my sister, Florence who did my make-up for me!
Recommended time to plan a wedding…
9 months to a year
Most useful wedding planning websites and apps…
I love Pinterest & tell everyone to get on there and create a board when they first get engaged. There is a whole world of creativity and ideas on there – it’s great!
Best moment of the day…
When the registrar said, ‘I now pronounce you Husband and Wife’. I had been so calm up until I was about to walk down the aisle, that I don’t remember much of what went on while we were standing in front of all our family and friends, but at that moment, those few words brought me back to earth.
We almost forgot…
I was pretty well organised and had a check list that I referred to several times a day, using colour coding and never deleting anything I had completed – just in case. On the day, however, we did forget to put out the flip flops that I had bought for our guests to wear if their feet had had enough of heels – it didn’t seem to stop anyone dancing all night though!
My dress! I am so glad I got the dress I dreamed of. We bought it from an amazing American designer, Monique Lhullier, and had it shipped over. It was so worth it as it was completely unique and exactly what I had always wanted.
I couldn’t name just one as my whole day went so smoothly with no hiccoughs.
The venue in particular, who were on the ball and so organised. I couldn’t have done it without them!Even though you are the one planning and planning your day – you actually forget that on the day you need to let it go and walk down the aisle – so, it’s a relief to know that the planner is there to see it through and the planner at Stubton Hall was just fantastic.
Special thanks to my wonderful mum, Anne, who has her own Wedding Floristry Business, Betty and Bear. She spent days surrounded by hundreds of flowers, creating all the masterpieces that filled the rooms. I also have to thank my lovely aunt who helped her on the day. They were more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.
Also, thank you to my amazing mother-in-law who made my cake – it was absolutely perfect!
Don’t worry about…
Just don’t worry in general – just enjoy the process of planning and enjoy the day itself. The more you worry and fret, the less you will relax and enjoy the day. It goes so fast you want to capture every moment and cherish it forever.
Look forward to…
Enjoy all your friends and family who have come to celebrate your day with you. Take a moment to stand with your new husband and watch everyone laughing, chatting and enjoying themselves.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Thank you to Oh Sew Vintage who made my flower girl dresses, my Mother’s dress and altered my sister’s Maid of Honour dress and altered mine.
